Early Matchlock Arquebus

By the late 1400’s the Hand Gonne was obsolete and weapons with integrated matchlock mechanisms came to dominate firearms design. Known as an Arquebus, these new lightweight matchlock weapons would dominate the battlefields of Europe and help to conquer the New World until finally being replaced by flintlock weapons.

Our reproduction Arquebus recalls the age of the Conquistadors. It features a simple spring tensioned mechanism, cannon muzzle, and simple hardware. The short, lightweight design makes it a pleasure to shoulder.
