1752/57 Spanish

History

The 1752 Spanish Infantry Musket was one of Spain’s first standardized musket designs. Originally produced with a wooden ramrod and iron hardware, the weapon went through numerous variations including the substitution of a metal ramrod in 1755 and the adoption of brass hardware in 1757.

The 1757 Musket saw service with Spanish troops in New Spain, the Caribbean, and in Florida. A substantial number were captured by the British during the French & Indian War in Cuba. During the American Revolution at least 12,000 were supplied to the Americans at Boston. It was also the standard arm of Spanish troops operating against the British along the Gulf Coast.

Our Reproduction

Our reproduction 1752/57 Spanish Infantry Musket incorporates the distinctive features of this long overlooked yet important arm. The ring-shaped top-jaw screw announces the Spanish provenance of the arm, while the brass hardware contrasts splendidly with the dark stained hardwood stock. The .69 caliber barrel has a bright finish and a top mounted bayonet lug.

The weapon requires no defarbing and comes with a plain lock ready to accept markings specific to your impression. Like all of our muskets, it comes with a limited warranty. The musket’s hammer has been adequately hardened and comes with a lifetime re-hardening guarantee.
